Wait On The Lord

Psalm 27:11-14 KJV

Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Way too often we try to get those things, including the outcomes, that we want. We want what we want and we want it now. But, those things that we desire are not always what we need or what is best for us. It may seem like too much hardship or struggle to have to wait to work things out the right or the best way so we rush things and the end does not always end up the way that we anticipated that it would end.

Things may feel hard; but, there are times when we must endure and trust in the Lord to see us through. The Lord know what is good for us. Wait on him. He will open the doors that are meant for you.

Do not make rash decisions to try to get what you want. Be of good courage and wait on the Lord and you will see the goodness of the Lord.

He Will Help

Brockway Mountain, Keweenaw, MI
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
(Psalm 121:1-2 KJV)

Since retiring this spring, I have had a lot more opportunity to pray. In fact, I find that I've had a tremendous amount of need to go before the Lord and ask for help.  This retirement stuff seems pretty fruitless. I feel restless and at times pretty useless. I spend a lot of time asking the Lord to help me to know what it is that He would have me do. It has only been a few months so I continue to wait patiently for the Lord to open the doors and show me the way in which He would have me go to serve Him.

This is definitely not the first time I've waited for Him to let me know what He would have me do; how He would have me serve. If you've been wondering, lift up your eyes and pray and with patience wait for it. Your help, our help, comes from the Lord. Sometimes, we have to wait awhile for answers. But, no matter what is causing you frustrations and confusion, He will answer all who earnestly ask for help; for direction.

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. (Psalm 27:14)

My Eyes See Salvation

Mine Eyes Have Salvation In The Coming Of The Lord
Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.”  Luke 2:28-32 NIV

The struggle is over. Simeon's hopeful wait to see the promised Messiah was over when he held the baby Jesus in his arms. With his own eyes, he beheld the Lord. With his own arms, he held Jesus the Christ. His wait was over. Salvation had come. He was ready to depart this world in God's peace.

With the entrance of God incarnate into this world as a mere baby, salvation has indeed come to the world. I wait, many of us wait, for the day when all eyes will be opened to see the promised light that has already come into this dark world. He has come. Yet, many refuse to open their eyes, or their ears, or their hearts to the greater understanding that there is more. There is peace to those who see him. There is peace for those who hear him. There is peace for those who receive him into their lives.

For many faithful Christians, our struggles will be over, when all whom we care about can see with their own eyes the great love that God has for them and enter into his peace.

May God open the eyes of all who find themselves in darkness this day, that they might see and take hold of the salvation that has come to them in our Lord, Jesus the Christ.
