Speak Lord And I Will Listen

1 Samuel 3:1-10 KJV; 2nd Sunday of Epiphany; Instead of focusing on the world and your own troubles take the time to listen to what the Word of the Lord has to say to you. When He speaks to you; be still and listen!

You Have Received Eternal Life

Photo by Pr. Judy Mattson

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16 KJV)

Do you get this? It does not matter what you have done or left undone. If you believe in the Son who willingly died for your sins those sins are forgiven. You have been reconciled to God by the blood of Jesus the Christ. You have received eternal life.

There is so much more than the daily struggles that humankind meets. There is peace in the Kingdom of God. There is peace knowing that God is with you and for you. Live in His peace. Live life. Quit focusing only on the troubles that you think are before you as that is only making them larger than life. Rather than have a narrow focus on problems; focus on the gifts that God has given you even in the midst of those trials!

Believe in Jesus who has given you the gift of eternal life. That gift does not begin after death in this world. That gift belongs to you now. Believe in him and live life in Christ!

Wisdom Listens to Gain Knowledge

The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:
for gaining wisdom and instruction;
for understanding words of insight;
for receiving instruction in prudent behavior,
doing what is right and just and fair;
for giving prudence to those who are simple,
knowledge and discretion to the young—
let the wise listen and add to their learning,
and let the discerning get guidance—
Proverbs 1:1-5 NRSV

Over the years, I have learned something that can totally frustrate me. I can teach all that I want; but, unless the person that I am attempting to teach is listening; they will learn nothing. They will not grow in knowledge if they are busy thinking about and focusing on other things while they are being taught. If you are in worship or in a small group, listen to the word of God imparted through by those who are serving or speaking. If you are out in the world, take the time, to be still and listen to what others have to say.

It is the wise person who would be still and listen in order to gain knowledge.

May God help us to have a greater knowledge of his will for us and for all people so that we might serve him and his children more fully.
