The Light Comes From God Alone

So we have the prophetic message more fully confirmed. You will do well to be attentive to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. (2 Peter 1:19-21 NRSV)

The Word of God is truly like a lamp shining in a dark place. For those who are lost or alone; for those who are suffering; for those who are nearing death, the Good News that the Word Alone can give to them brings peace of heart and mind.

As the scripture plainly tells us, no prophecy of God comes from the human will. The human does not have the knowledge to interpret any prophecy outside of their own desires or fears. The human will only speaks from it's own being. But, the interpretation of prophecy that comes by means of the Holy Spirit brings the will and knowledge of God's will for us to us. The Holy Spirit who is all in all and knows all speaks through those whom the Spirit of Christ abides. The Spirit decides whom He will speak through. God calls those whom He calls. It would be dangerous (deadly) to the one who would interpret saying "the Word of the Lord" when the word that they share is born only from their own desires or fears. If the words we speak are not Spirit led then it would be best not to speak at all.

Do not worry about those who interpret from their own desires or fears. Do not let them lead you astray. The Spirit of God will guide His people in His way. Listen to Him and you will see in all things the light at the dawn of a new day for God desires to bring us light and not darkness.

Rescue Me!

"Rescue me from the mire,
    do not let me sink;
deliver me from those who hate me,
    from the deep waters."

                              Psalm 69:14 NIV

On one of the islands in front of my home in Aura there is a small spot of sinking sand. It is a little over a foot wide; yet, it's a bit unnerving to accidentally step into it. As one's ankles and then calves become engulfed in sand you will not tarry. You will step out of it as quickly as possible and change your course just as fast. I do not know how much of a person this sinking sand would swallow if one chose to test it. I have never desired to find out.

Sometimes we are our own worst enemies. We go in ways that are dangerous to ourselves and may even be active in leading others in the wrong way, as well. We stray from the path that Jesus prepared for us and purposefully attempt to travel the path of the unrighteous. There are many dangers on this path that lead us away from our Father's house. Sinking in mucky, uncharted swamps is only one of them.

When we find ourselves in danger of sinking in the mire it is time to change course. It is time, to ask for God's help to get back on the path that He has prepared for us.

If you find yourself alone and sinking fast know there is one who can rescue you. There is only one who can save you. Ask and He will lead you on the path of eternal life in His Kingdom.

Do Not Insult The Spirit Of Grace

Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three
witnesses. How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:28-31

It astounds me how anyone who knows about God would blaspheme His name with words too unimaginable to mention here. The Spirit of God is a Spirit of grace. God wants only good for all people. Yet, many will never accept Him; many will never get to know this Spirit of grace. They may know about Him; but, they refuse to get to know Him.

Personally, I am really tired of hearing God's name taken in vain. I am really tired of hearing such horribly vulgar language. But, it doesn't matter that I am offended. It is a grave matter, though, to offend and fall into the hands of the living God. To use our Lord, Jesus the Christ's name in conjunction with such vulgarity is really asking for trouble to be brought upon one's self. Does no one really understand that it is not a good thing to blaspheme the Lord's name? It is a very dangerous thing! "You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name." Ex 20:7

Let us pray for all who would treat the Lord as nothing; even less than nothing.
