The Lord Provides

Matthew 10:9-20 KJV; The Lord provides for his servants. Bless those you encounter with peace and if they reject that peace it will return to you. Then it is time to shake the dust off of your feet and leave.

The Lord Provides

And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.

Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.

And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.

But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.

And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.

And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.

And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
                                                                               (1 Kings 19:1-8 KJV)

Jezebel is after him so Elijah is on the run. She has sworn to kill him because he has killed her prophets. His departure is so quick that he doesn't take any provisions for his journey. The escape wore him out so after a ways he lays down under a tree and falls asleep.

Of course, the Lord knows all that Elijah has done to let the people know that their false gods and prophets are just that: false. And, the Lord still has plans for him. He sends an angel to care for him; to feed him and to give him drink. The Lord provides for his servant in need.

The Lord still provides for his servants. He provides our daily bread. Thanks be to God!

I Believe In God The Father

The First Article.
Of Creation.
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. What does this mean?--Answer.
I believe that God has made me and all creatures; that He has given me my body and soul, eyes, ears, and all my limbs, my reason, and all my senses, and still preserves them; in addition thereto, clothing and shoes, meat and drink, house and homestead, wife and children, fields, cattle, and all my goods; that He provides me richly and daily with all that I need to support this body and life, protects me from all danger, and guards me and preserves me from all evil; and all this out of pure, fatherly, divine goodness and mercy, without any merit or worthiness in me; for all which I owe it to Him to thank, praise, serve, and obey Him. This is most certainly true.

God, our Father and Creator, cares for His whole creation. He loves and cares for us. He has provided us with all that we have. That is everything! Not just a just a blessing here or there or now and then. Everything that we have are gifts from God.

If we truly believe that all that we have, even our ourselves and our family and friends; even our churches, are gifts from God, then we will care for them as though they were precious treasures, for in truth they are blessings from God.

God is not just a God of beginnings. He did not just create and then us alone to our devices. He is an active Father providing not just the material things of life; but, spiritual gifts as well.

May our Father's love for us, inspire us to love and cherish Him for all that He has done for us. May God help us to love and care for His whole creation.

God Provides In The Wilderness

They spoke against God; they said, “Can God really spread a table in the wilderness?" Psalm 78:19 NIV

The people of Israel continued to sin against God. They willfully put Him to the test. They doubted. They did not put their trust in Him.  "Can God really spread a table in the wilderness?" they asked.
Of course, He can!

God can provide anything He wants for anyone that He desires. But, it is up to us to accept His provisions. Often, we do not. We would much rather depend on ourselves, than on God or anyone else. We would rather do it our way and have it our way than in the way that God thinks best for us.

Sometimes, the only way that we are capable of gratefully receiving God's provisions is when we are in the wilderness, totally lost and alone.

The journey through the wilderness can be a very good thing. It will help us to remember who is God and to trust in Him, alone.
