For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. (Phil 1:21-24 NIV)
Jesus tells us, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6) I often wonder what the motivation of those who profess to be Christians is for showing up to worship on occasional Sunday mornings. Is it the fear of death or the love of life who is Jesus the Christ?
I pray that it is the latter. I hope that for the whole Christian Church on earth we can all say with St. Paul that there would be no greater pleasure than to be with Christ; to live in his complete love, to live in his life! Yet, while we are here on earth let us all be fruitful laborers that many would come to know the love of God in Christ Jesus.
