The Light Shines

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matt 5:14-16 NIV)

It is dark outside as I write this; but, not totally. There always seems to be a bit of light coming from somewhere no matter how dark the night might be. The only time it appears totally dark is when my eyes are closed. When we shut our eyes to the world we cannot see the light. Neither can we reflect the light if we close our hearts to the love and light of God.

It is said that darkness is merely the absence of light. When our hearts are filled with the darkness brought about by anger or envy or fear or hatred; the light of Christ cannot shine within and through us so that others might see the light and glorify our Father in heaven.

Open your eyes and see the light of Christ shine through others. Open your heart that the light of Christ might shine through you.

God's Peace - Pr. J
