Faith Alone In Christ Alone

"Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent."
                                                                                  (John 6:28-29 KJV)

The people who followed Jesus across the sea wanted to know what works they must do. Jesus response was to believe in him; to believe in the one that God had sent.

There is no work that we can do to save ourselves. We are not saved by the works of our own hands. We are saved by faith in the work of Christ on the cross for us. Because of our faith we are motivated and empowered by the Spirit of Christ to do good works. But, these good works do not save us. They are the fruit of our salvation. Salvation is a gift from God and not of our own doing.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Not of works, lest any man should boast."
                                                                                            (Eph 2:8-9)

Thanks be to God for the gift of life in Christ.

God's Peace - Pr. J
