Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
(1 Thess 4:1,13-17 KJV)
Do you live in order to please God or your or maybe someone else? Is your whole life wrapped up in pleasing yourself? Do you walk in the way that the Lord, who loves you, would have you go?
St. Paul reassures the Thessalonians that they who love the Lord and walk with him have no reason to fear death for we know that all who fall asleep in him will rise from the dead even as he rose from the dead. Because Jesus lived and died and lives again for us, we shall live for all eternity in the presence of God. Rejoice! Because eternity includes today. God is with you and for you. Thank Him for your salvation and do all things to glorify Him alone!.
Because he lives, so shall all who believe in him; so shall all who put their trust in him!
